Pumpkin Painting

Austin's pre-school class had to decorate pumpkins for their "pumpkin patch" at school.  Austin wanted to make his a Frankenstein pumpkin and he found in his words "the perfect pumpkin" for painting!  Here is the result!

Notice the little black pumpkin next to it...that's Frankenstein's cat.  At least that's what Austin said!

It didn't turn out too bad considering I'm not much of an artist!

My Soccer Star!

Or Not!!  Austin asked for months before time if he could play soccer in the fall and when the time rolled around we signed him up.  Let's just say it was entertaining to say the least.  He's only 4 and you can't expect them to be superstars, but Austin liked being the entertainer of the group.  He had his moments of playing well, but there were more moments of him just being him.

There team ended up doing pretty well in the season.  They ended up 3rd out of 6 teams and got to play in 2 of the 3 final games before being beat 4-3.  Entertainer or not I was proud of Austin and am glad that he enjoyed the experience.  Here are a few pictures from our soccer adventure.

 Taking a quick break!

 Playing goalie!

He was so proud of his soccer medal!
 He even slept with it!

Bad to the Bone

Literally!  Don't you know that every little boy needs a bright pink spray painted bone.  It's only pink on one side though.  And of course we must have frog stickers on our forehead cause that's how we roll!

Party, Party

We had a super busy weekend with two birthday parties on Saturday.  The first one was a pirate party!  It was for my friend Lindsay's little boy Cal.

The second party of the day was for his friend Angel from school.  It was a 50's party and was so cute.  The kids went dressed in the 50's style, except for the shorts because it was 106 degrees outside!  They all looked really cute.  I put Austin in a white t-shirt with a small matchbox rolled up in his sleeve as his "smokes" along with his black shades and a little black comb stuck in his back pocket!  I took pics, but they are on my other camera.

That's Not a Tree Shaker...

It's a tree breaker!  So we started out Friday morning headed to Bastrop to see Troy and Jacob Landry from the show Swamp People.  We are all 3 big fans of the show.

This little boy was sooo excited to see Troy!

But when we got there...the line was a mile long!  No exagerration.  It was literally that long.  We got there about 1 1/2 hours before they were scheduled and we had to park about 1/2 mile away from the store.  It was crazy.  I've never seen so many folks and was just shocked that so many people were there on a Friday morning.  Needless to say there was no way Austin was going to hold out in a line that long so Brandon just held him up so he could get a look and I got a few pictures.
There's Troy.  We could here him talking to the folks from where we were standing and he seems to be just as hilarious in real life as he is on the show.  He was hollering yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!  And of course "choot 'em Lizabeth, choot 'em".  The day didn't go quit as planned, but it all worked out.  Austin was just happy to have seen him.
Look at all those people and there were tons more.  I know of two other people there and one of them stood in line for 3 hours and the other stood in line for 6 hours.  Both with small kids!  Not us...we'll just stick with watching him on TV.

So instead we just went on to Monroe and went to the mall to look around.  And then Austin found Build a Bear.  He ended up with a dalmation dog and his name is Barker.  He came up with Barker because we bought the extra sound that was put into him that barks!  Here he is giving Barker a shower.  We just got the dog and the sound no little outfits for this boys dog!  That was for girls!
Here he is with Barker in his "dog house"!
They also had the Smurfs in BAB to stuff.  Since the movie started on Friday they were also giving away Smurf hats...that's what he has on below.
And of course no trip is complete without spending all your change in the junk machines and little rides they have EVERYWHERE you go!

The Character of the Day is...

Yea, we don't really know what it was either.  This child loves to dress up in "character" all of the time.  Whatever character he is it usually involves his sword.  He's normally some kind of ninja!

And by the way, that is a scarf he has draped around himself and tucked into his shorts. And also a tobaggon on his head.  It's only 100 degrees outside so why not wear those things.  After all they go great with shorts!!  One of these days he'll die that I actually took pictures of him like this, but I think it's hilarious!

Our Summer So Far

I've obviously been way behind on posting any new pictures this summer.  We've done several fun things and I've taken pictures of most all of them, but then they never quite make it onto here.  So here we go!

After the 4-H fishing derby.  He caught 6 catfish! Everytime he'd get one on the line he would holler out to everyone "I just caught another one'!  I guess he wanted to make sure that everyone knew.
In the kiddie pool.  This child seriously is scared to death of the water unless he can touch bottom.  He'll play all day long even it comes up to his neck, as long as he can touch the bottom!  Hopefully he'll grow out of that sooner than later.

At the Arkadelphia waterpark.  Again he can touch bottom so it's all good, but don't take him near the rope that separates deep from shallow.

 Magic Springs.

 Riding the planes with Ayla.
There was a mini meltdown over this ride as well.  They were waiting in line and he wanted to ride in the police car.  There are two police cars on the ride, but only 1 of them was working and he went to the non-working one first and someone else got the working one.  Let's just say he had a fit and came back outside the gate and waited for the next time when he could get the police car!  He is one stubborn little boy!

We went to DeGray and camped for 6 days leading up to the 4th of July.  Austin, Ayla and I went up on Tuesday and Brandon came at the end of the week.  We spent our days swimming and playing at the playground until Brandon got there on Friday with the boat!

And I'm not quite sure what this was, but he kept wrapping himself up in his blanket and dancing in the camper! You know every boy needs a skirt and a pinwheel to blow! LOL!
Mixing up the pancake batter so I can make breakfast.

We got home from camping on Monday morning and then had lunch at my dad's house with the whole family.  Mikey's birthday is this week and so they had a little early celebration for him while everyone was there.

With Scooter & Mikey for Mikey's birthday!
And baby Jane Annsley!  She is my step-sisters new little girl and she is so precious.  Austin just loved her. When I asked him what he thought of such a little baby he told me that "she's fine, but I want a baby brother"!  Let's just say if we ever do have baby #2 he's going to be so disappointed if it's not a boy!
The best part of the cake...the icing!  And yes he was still in his pjs...at 3:00 in the afternoon. That's just how we roll sometimes!
Austin and Papaw with baby Jane.  He was so excited to hold her.  It's a good thing that babies sleep so much when they are little because otherwise she would really be uncomfortable in the position in which Austin was holding her.  Now in Austin's words "God needs to hurry up and bring him a baby brother"!

Another Weekend Gone By...

My child has developed a new obsession with water balloons so of course his daddy bought him a bag of 250! Yea, just what we needed! Being the nice momma that I am (read I got tired of listening to him beg) I finally filled him up a few to take outside.
He ended up taking them out to throw at the dog and of course he wanted me to throw one at him to get him wet, so I did.
Apparently he thought he was gonna throw one at me while I was sitting on the steps. Since I did have a camera in my hand I didn't think it was a good idea and lucky for me he minded!
On Friday at lunch he wanted to have a picnic, but the weather was windy and rainy looking so we ended up doing it in the house! Here is our lunch as requested by Austin...chicken nuggets, tater tots, cheese, hot chips (also known as Doritos) and bbq sauce! And we ate them on our Zoo Pals plates! We're classy like that!
Here he is with our spread out blanket and ready for lunch.

And we have to have a little Iron Man in there too!

Saturday morning there was a fishing derby at Mathis' pond and Austin wanted to go. Brandon had to work so that just left me to take him. Brandon got all of stuff together on Friday night and Saturday morning Austin and I loaded up and off we went. He had so much fun. I did have to help him reel them in because they were a little heavy for him. He caught 6 catfish and every time he caught one he would yell to the people around us that he caught another one! He was so proud. I was proud that he managed to actually fish and act good for the 2 1/2 hours we were there. Here is his catch and what's for supper tonight!

He was so proud of his fish he caught! He couldn't wait to show his daddy.

And last, but not least the newest "pet". Actually there are 2 of them. Brandon brought home two turtles Saturday night that he picked up off the road. Just what we needed! They even have names...the one below is Franklin and the other one is Gilly.

Just another weekend in the life! Isn't it great?
