Boys and Their Toys

So the hubby has had this idea in his head to build Austin his own monster truck track since we went to Monster Jam in January.  On Sunday he finally got the chance to work on it and Austin just loves it.  He can now race his monster trucks with Daddy!

I'm quite sure that as the years go on there will be many more daddy & Austin projects.  I'm so glad to have a handy husband who can do all these fun things with our little man.  They will definately be some cherished memories on down the road.

Pre-School Party

We had Austin's pre-school party on Monday morning.  Since I'm the room mother it's my job to get everything together and it's something that I really enjoy.  I hope the kiddos enjoy their parties as much I enjoy putting it all together.  They got way too much candy, but of course they don't even get to touch it until time to go home.  I appreciate the teachers and other mom's that helped out.  We done a lunch of chicken nuggets, chips, cookies and Capri Sun.  Some of them eat really well and others not so much.  I was amazed that Austin ate so well today because he normally doesn't when I'm there.  It's hard to get very many pictures when you're trying to help out so I didn't get a whole lot.

I'm not sure what this look is.  He's either concentrating real hard on what he's doing or he's just not happy.  Who knows?

This is such a fun age because they truly enjoy having momma there to be a part of stuff.  I'm glad that I have a job where I'm able to be there for him because I wouldn't miss it for the world.  They are only this little once and only for a few years will they enjoy all of these things so I'm just gonna soak it all up while I can.

Here is my Valentine.  And if I do say so myself he's a sweetie!  We spent Sunday afternoon getting things ready for his pre-school party.  Of course he had to help put sprinkles on the cookies we made. 

Here are our 13 little treat sacks that we made up.  I sort out all of the goodies into 13 piles and he puts each pile into a sack.  He loves to be my "good helper" as he calls it.

And our 13 Valentine "mailboxes".  I took a box and cut a mail slot out of the top and then spray painted each one of them.  I got heart shaped foam stickers for them to decorate each box with.  And if you're wondering about the candles and  chickens on top of the boxes?  I printed out each of their names and glued it onto the box.  The glue wasn't holding real well so Austin brought me all the candles and little things he could find and we used them as weights.  You do whatever works!

We didn't do a whole lot for Austin for Valentine's because let's face it, the boy has way more stuff than he could ever possibly need.  We went and picked up some things from us and we picked up the stuff from Mamaw & Papaw too.  All I got a picture of was the balloons for whatever reason.

He got a Spongebob balloon, a Spiderman little lunchbox (to hold his cars), a Monster Jam truck and some Hershey's kisses from Mamaw & Papaw.

And from Momma & Daddy he got a puppy Pillow Pet and this monkey balloon.  He's been wanting a pillow pet for a while and I just never would buy one so I decided it would make a good V-Day gift.  So now he has something new to sleep with plus he'll take it to school everyday for nap time.

So that's it.  Nothing too exciting for us.

Viral...

So my little man is currently sick. He started coughing real bad on Thursday morning, but I left him with mamaw & papaw for the day while I went to work. When I picked him up mamaw said he started running fever about 3:00 p.m. and the cough had been steady all day. The cough syrup he had just wasn't cutting it. He continued to run fever throughout the night so first thing Friday morning I called and got him a doctor appt. So after a hour and 15 minute wait to see the doctor, Austin was diagnosed with viral pneumonia. Dr. G said that if treated properly will go away without any hospitalization...thank God for that. So we brought home a bag full of meds and an inhaler and so for now we are stuck in the house. Austin has to wait until Monday to be able to get out of the house again and let me say that it doesn't make for a very happy little boy. He hasn't ran any fever since Friday morning, but definately still has that hacking cough, but he's still as wild as ever. He even laid down to take a nap this afternoon! Very, very rare! Hopefully in a few days he'll be good as new. I'll be so glad when the weather gets decent and stays that way so everyone won't be sick.

Of course here he is taking a nap with all his animals piled up around him...and his blankie too, of course.

Snow Day...Take 3

Snow AGAIN!!!  Quite frankly I'm sick of the snow.  Even though we only got about 2" it is more than enough for me.  I'm just thankful we don't live in North Arkansas where they got 15 to 20".  Hopefully this will be the last snow of the season and we can move on to Spring.  I was going to stay home with Austin today, but I really hated to waste 10 hours of my vacation time so I decided to go into work and luckily Papaw was home today so he watched Austin.  The roads were really not all that bad.  There were a few slick places, but if you drove slow and didn't act like an idiot it was no problem.

Austin begged to go out all day yesterday to play in the snow, but he currently has a bad cough so I was hesitant to let him go.  Once daddy got home from work that's all I heard was I want to go play.  So I gave in and we went out for about 45 minutes.  Brandon hooked up the kneeboard to the 4 wheeler again and he pulled Austin around the pasture.  He absolutely LOVES riding on that thing.  It was soooo cold.  We all had on insulated everything except my rubber boots and my gloves are NOT.  My toes felt like they were frozen and I had enough.  Luckily Austin's hands had got cold in his gloves and he was ready to go too!

I still can't believe we've had 3 snows this year and I am hoping this was the last!  Here are a few pictures!

And on a random note here are some cake pops that Austin and I made for his class at school.  I thought they turned out cute and he was so proud of them!  And yes that's a swimming pool noodle that they are stuck in.  It's the only foam thing we had that I could stand them up in so they didn't fall over while the coating got hard.  Whatever works.

Snow Day...Take 2

So we woke up last Friday morning to more snow.  Lucky for me I'm off on Fridays so I didn't have to worry about going to work or wasting any of my vacation time because I had to stay home.  Brandon got home from work early so we loaded up to go pick up a few things from the grocery store and came back home to let Austin play.  Here a few pictures from our time outside.

Monster Jam

Otherwise known as lots of fumes and loud noise!  Brandon and I along with Papaw, Scooter and Mikey made our first Monster Jam trip on Saturday. 

We started out making a stop by Kroger for me.  They were having a good sale and I wanted to get some things.  I'm still really irritated that we don't have a decent grocery store around here anymore and Wal-Mart is NOT my favorite place to shop :(  Nothing I can do about it though...moving on.  Papaw took us all out to eat at El Porton Mexican and it was really good, but wouldn't you know that Austin didn't want to eat he just wanted to play, but after a few forced attempts Brandon finally got him to eat a little something!  Next stop was Monster Jam...

We've watched it on TV several times and I must say that the TV version was better than what we saw.  Maybe it's because Verizon is a smaller arena compared to what we've seen on TV and they weren't running on dirt plus they just didn't have the room to do a whole lot of showing out!  The kids all had a good time, but if we go to another one I'd like to go to a bigger arena.  And earplugs are a MUST!!  Austin didn't want to wear anything on his ears (hard headed as usual) so ended up with his fingers stuck in his ears or just nothing at all for most of the night.

I had to take all of my pictures with my Blackberry because as usual my camera battery was dead.  I might have got 3 pictures from it.  I should have known to check the battery as they tend not to hold up very well, but at least I had my phone.  So here are the photos from the night!
